People, Health & Safety Advisor

As our People, Health & Safety Advisor, you’ll play a key role supporting leaders and employees across one of Hawke’s Bay’s most diverse agribusinesses.

Working across recruitment, employee relations, workforce programmes, health and safety and continuous improvement, you’ll gain exposure to every aspect of the people function while helping create safe, productive and engaged workplaces.

This is a hands-on role offering genuine variety, responsibility and opportunity to grow your career.

This role is suitable for an experienced advisor seeking greater breadth, or an emerging practitioner ready to take the next step in their career.

About the role

Reporting to the People & Culture Manager, you’ll provide practical support and advice to managers and employees across a broad range of people and workplace initiatives.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting recruitment, onboarding and employee lifecycle intiatives.
  • Providing front-line people advice and guidance to managers.
  • Providing support and guidance with employment relations and workplace matters.
  • Supporting seasonal workforce and RSE programmes.
  • Coordinating health and safety initiatives, documentation and reporting.
  • Building strong relationships across the business.
  • Contributing to systems improvements and continuous improvement projects.
  • Supporting initiatives that improve employee experience, wellbeing and workplace performance.

The scope of the role may be tailored to reflect the skills and experience of the successful candidate.

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for someone who enjoys working with people, building relationships and helping create safe, productive and engaged workplaces.

You’ll ideally bring:

  • Experience in People & Culture, HR, recruitment, health and safety or a related advisory role.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Sound judgement and a practical, solutions-focused approach.
  • Strong organisational and administration capability.
  • Confidence using digital systems and technology.
  • A continuous improvement mindset and willingness to learn.

Experience within horticulture, agriculture, seasonal labour or the RSE scheme would be advantageous, but is not essential.
