General Farmer – Effluent & Fertiliser
We are looking for a General Farmer with a focus on Effluent & Fertiliser management to join our Dairy Farm.
Apatu Farms is a family-owned agribusiness. Our operations are diverse, encompassing pipfruit, viticulture, vegetable cropping, export onions, transport/logistic and dairy farming.
Our Plantation Dairy site is based in Ongaonga, Hawkes Bay. We have 1800 cows at peak, a 60 bale rotary, twice a year calving (‘Spring’: July-Oct/Nov and ‘Autumn’: January-April) and all-year milking. We are busy! And to help us get things done we have a great team of 15+ people onsite as well as support from the wider Apatu Farms team.
We are looking for a General Farmer (Effluent & Fertiliser) to join our team.
About the role:
This role will support the Farm Management team with all things effluent and fertiliser management. Reporting to the Farm Manager this hands on role will support the day to day management and operational completion of effluent and fertiliser activities ensuring compliance with our on-farm and external stakeholder requirements. Given the nature of the role there will be some autonomy in getting tasks completed on time, in full and providing feedback and information to support our reporting requirements.

About you:
- You hold a current drivers licence and are confident with operating tractors and other farm-related equipment.
- Previous experience working in dairy farms is a bonus but not essential.
- Previous experience/understanding of on-farm effluent and fertiliser management advantageous.
- You are a New Zealand Citizen / Resident
- Willing to get stuck in, work with a team and achieve high-quality results.
There is no accommodation available with this role, however the hours would suit someone located in/around the Central Hawkes Bay region.
