Field Operations 2IC
This newly created role will support our Field Ops Manager with operational and people leadership.
Apatu Farms is a leading Hawke’s Bay Agribusiness focused on growing quality produce for prominent local and global customers. Operations span across Vegetable, Pipfruit, Viticulture, Dairy, Export and Transport activities.
The opportunity
We are looking for a Field Ops 2IC to join our Ag team. This permanent role will support our Field Operations Manager and would suit an experienced operational leader who enjoys working a day out on the tractor as much as supervising people or an individual wanting to advance their personal and professional career in the Ag industry.
Based out of our Hastings site and supporting cropping activities across the Hawkes Bay region, flexibility in this role is key, as you balance operational requirements with good people practices; supporting our people to do their best work.
What will you be doing?
- Assisting our Field Operations Manager with day-to-day operational planning and team management/support.
- Operating Ag Machinery (John Deere, Fendt & Case with GPS autosteer) across a wider range or crop and crop-related activities such as ground prep, planting, harvesting, grassing down etc.
- Building effective trusting relationships with all stakeholders.
- Effectively identifying and managing risks.
About You:
- Proven ability operating various types of Ag machinery across a number of crop-related activities.
- Proven ability to manage and motivate employees,
- Proactive, energetic and driven with a Can-do attitude,
- High level of effective communication with internal and external clients,
- Able to adapt to changing conditions and requirements with the ability to think on your feet,
- Administrative skills with an eye for detail,
- Full, current New Zealand driver’s license
