Assistant Farm Manager (2IC)

We are looking for an experienced Herd Manager to join our Plantation Dairy team.

Our Plantation Dairy site is based in Ongaonga, Hawkes Bay. This site has 1900 cows , a 60 bale rotary, twice a year calving (‘Spring’: July-Oct/Nov and ‘Autumn’: January-April) and all-year milking. We are busy! And to help us get things done we have a great team of 12+ people onsite as well as support from the wider Apatu Farms team.

We are looking for a permanent full-time Farm 2IC to support our Plantation Dairy team. Reporting to the Farm Manager, you will support the day-to-day operational management requirements of the farm; leading the team to achieve high performance standards to achieve milk production outcomes. From time-to-time you will also support some general farm and milking related tasks to assist the wider team to optimise the farm’s performance.

The successful candidate will work closely with a motivated and proactive Farm Manager, supported by the General Manager and Managing Directors.

About you:
• Previous demonstrable experience in a 2IC or supervisory capacity on a high-performing dairy farm.
• You hold a current driver’s licence and are confident with operating tractors and other farm-related equipment
• Willing to get stuck in, work with a team and achieve high-quality results
• You are a New Zealand Citizen / Resident
