Apatu Farms is a leading Hawkes Bay Agribusiness focused on growing quality produce for prominent local and global customers. Our operations span across vegetable and fruit growing, viticulture, transport, and export activities.

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Mechanical Engineer in this fulltime permanent role. The primary responsibility of this role is to support the Cropping and Harvest goals of Apatu Farms by providing timely and reliable repairs and maintenance to agricultural plant and implements.


The successful candidate will have the following skills and attributes:

  • Proven mechanical and engineering experience, ideally in an Agricultural environment
  • Fabrication and construction of new implements and plant
  • Complete engineering modifications on machines or implements
  • Able to demonstrate their ability to diagnose faults or malfunctions and the steps required to fix the problem, make recommendations on work needed to be completed and report major repair requirements
  • Provide on call repairs and maintenance tasks throughout the busy planting to harvest season in accordance with a roster
  • Strong hands-on style,
  • Initiative and problem-solving skills
  • Time management and planning to ensure maintenance programs are delivered on time
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude and able to work unsupervised,
  • Ability to interact positively across the business with both internal and external relationships,
  • Commitment to workplace Health and Safety.


The remuneration will be dependent on skills and experience
